Patrick Lundy & The Ministers of Music

history

This dynamic community choir officially debuted in November 1994 at the Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington, Maryland and consists of some of the most outstanding vocalists in Washington Metropolitan Area, many of whom are ministers of music, choir directors, music educators, soloists and ordained ministers of the gospel. The group has been blessed to minister throughout the United States and abroad and privileged to appear with a virtual "Who's Who" in gospel and secular music.

The Choir has also appeared at the White House, before the Senate, and at the U.S. Supreme Court. They have represented the United States at the World's Fair in Lisbon, Portugal, toured Spain and Italy, performed on the stage of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, for the Philadelphia 76ers and at innumerable other prestigious events and venues. In September 2006, the group ministered at the Congressional Black Caucus Prayer Breakfast, at the Reid Temple AME Community Day, opened for Albertina Walker and The Caravans Reunion CD Release and taped BET's Bobby Jones Gospel with Tramaine and Edwin Hawkins, all in the same day!

PL&MOM have recorded and released five (5) CDs:"We Sing The Power" (1995), "You Carried Me" (1998), "Standin'" (2003), "In The Fellowship", (2005) and a Christmas CD, "A Child Is Born", released in December 2007. A 6th CD, "Determined", was recorded on November 7, 2009, during the Choir's 15th Anniversary Celebration at Reid Temple AME Church, featuring the legendary Lady Tramaine Hawkins as special guest. The project from this momentous occasion was released in July 2010.

Over the years, the group has been nominated for Stellar and African American Religious Connection Awards. In August 2006, PL&MOM were afforded the honor of receiving the first En Sound Music Awards for Artist of The Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year for "In The Fellowship".

On Sunday, January 18, 2009, the group participated in the Opening Ceremony celebrating the inauguration of President Barack Obama, singing with Bruce Springsteen and Beyonce. They were also featured artists at the Stafford Foundation's People's Inaugural Project MLK Luncheon at the J.W. Marriott where Martin Luther King, III was the guest speaker. On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, PL&MOM accompanied Mariah Carey and Shakira at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball, the first of the 10 official balls attended by the President and First Lady Obama. Members of PL&MOM also appeared with Bruce Springsteen during the 43th NFL Super Bowl held in Tampa, Florida.

The Choir consistently lends its support to charitable causes by rendering concerts to benefit victims of hunger, disease and domestic violence.
